Six UW-Eau Claire business students earn All-Academic honors
Six UW-Eau Claire business students have been named to the 2011 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team.
Winning the award for the second time in their careers were John Kearns and Tim Possehl.
Kearns, a defenseman majoring in health care administration with a 3.42 GPA, finished with five assists this season. He played in all 27 of the Blugolds’ games. Kearns was also named the WIAC’s co-scholar-athlete recently and is currently trying out with the Idaho Steelheads, a minor league affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars.
Possehl is majoring in accounting with a 3.43 GPA. A defenseman, he played in 11 games this season and had five points (one goal, four assists).
Receiving All-Academic honors for the first time in their careers were Tyler Jundt, Andrew McCabe, Jordan Singer and Andrew Wilcox.
Jundt majors in business finance and holds a 3.81 GPA. He scored eight points this season (three goals, five assists) while playing in 20 games.
McCabe, who majors in business administration and has a 3.28 GPA, finished with 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) playing in all 27 games this year.
Singer, a business management major with a 3.52 GPA, led the Blugolds this season with 29 points. He had a team-best 13 goals and 16 assists. Seven of his goals came on power-plays, while two were game-winners and he also had a hat-trick.
Wilcox, a business marketing major with a 3.69 GPA, finished with 12 points this season (four goals, eight assists). He had three power-play goals and two game-winners.
