Kollross to teach sales classes and coach UW-Eau Claire sales team
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Department of Management and Marketing and the Center for Sales and Sales Management welcome Gerald Kollross to the marketing program. Kollross will teach sales and other marketing courses, coach students participating in collegiate sales competitions, and assist with the planning, promotion and coordination of the department’s Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up collegiate sales competition.
He replaces LaNette Flunker who took a new position in the department as coordinator for both the Center for Health Administration and Aging Services Excellence (CHAASE) and health care administration practicum program.
Kollross has a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He was named the UW-Eau Claire Outstanding MBA student in 2006-2007.
Since 2006, Kollross has been an adjunct instructor at both UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout. He has taught nine different management and marketing courses, including professional selling and sales management. For the past two years, he has coached the UW-Stout sales team at the National Collegiate Sales Competition, where his teams finished 10th in 2011 and 22nd in 2010. He is the author of six in-depth cases studies published by Prentice Hall in the 2008 edition of Sales Management, a textbook written by Tanner, Honeycutt and Erffmeyer.
Kollross has over 20 years of experience in sales, sales management and marketing. His most recent experience was as national sales manager for Innomark Communications, a privately held retail merchandising company based in Fairfield, OH. Kollross managed a multi-million dollar portfolio of national consumer product and retail accounts that included Kohl’s, J.C. Penney, Spectrum Brands (Rayovac), Target, and Zippo.
An outstanding swimmer, Kollross was a Wisconsin State University Conference champion freestyle sprinter at UW-La Crosse, winning both the 50 and 100 freestyle events in both 1983 and 1984 and establishing conference records, one of which stood until the 2006 season. He won the NAIA national championship in the 50 and 100 free in 1984, and participated in the 1988 Olympic swimming trials. He was inducted into the UW-La Crosse Athlete Wall of Fame in 1994. Kollross was the volunteer assistant coach of UW-Eau Claire Blugold men’s and women’s swimming and diving team in 2005-06, interim coach in 2006-07 and head coach in 2007-08.
He is married to Linda, a psychiatrist with Marshfield Clinic. Together they have three daughters.
