Fall 2011 Sim Superbowl results announced
The team consisting of University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students Eamon Flood, Ryan Matchey, Jordan Paul and Lawton Pieschek received the highest overall score and earnings per share at the Fall 2011 Sim Superbowl. See box below for more results. Approximately 175 students participated in the event, which was held November 17 from 5:30-8:30 pm in UW-Eau Claire Schneider Hall, Room 100.
The Sim Superbowl is a three-hour competition that allows student teams to apply what they learned during the strategic management capstone course taught by Dr. Todd Hostager and Dr. Kristy Lauver. The event is held each semester.
During Sim Superbowl, teams use Glo-Bus, a computer simulation, to run hypothetical digital camera companies in head-to-head competition against their classmates. Each team is responsible for “assessing market conditions, determining how to respond to the actions of competitors, forging a long-term direction and strategy for their company, and making decisions relating to workforce compensation and plant operations, assembly plant capacity, pricing and marketing, finance, and corporate social responsibility/citizenship” (Source: www.glo-bus.com). Decisions made by student teams affected their company’s individual performance as well as its rank within the global marketplace.
Individual company and industry results are posted every 30 minutes. Overall and industry leaders are announced at the end of the competition, according to Lauver.
