Cardarella Named 2010 Outstanding MBA Student
Anna Cardarella has been named the 2010 Outstanding University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire MBA student by the graduate faculty of the College of Business.
Cardarella is assistant director of project employment for Western Dairyland community action agency. While in graduate school, Cardarella developed the Financial Literacy Improvement Program (FLIP) in conjunction with faculty from the college’s Department of Accounting and Finance. FLIP provides one-on-one financial literacy counseling services to economically-disadvantaged individuals and families. To date, 89 UW-Eau Claire undergraduate students have mentored low-income Chippewa Valley residents looking to improve their financial situations.
In addition, Cardarella completed a directed project that examined the impact and proliferation of predatory lending in Wisconsin including high-interest lending. A long-time advocate of personal financial literacy, she has given workshops and provided budget counseling to clients on topics such as debt management, and understanding credit reports and scores.
Originally from Madison, Cardarella and her husband, Andy, moved to Eau Claire when they were in their early twenties to attend college. Both are first-generation college graduates who decided to make Eau Claire their permanent home. The Cardarellas have two children.
