UW-Eau Claire College of Business Recognized for IS Research

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire College of Business has been recognized as one of the top 100 colleges for research in the field of information systems, according to an ongoing study conducted by Dr. Viswanath Venkatesh, professor, Sam Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas.

Ventatesh tracked research articles published between 2007 and 2009 in six journals identified by the Senior Scholars Forum as the premier journals in the IS field. (See box below for more information.) UW-Eau Claire's College of Business is currently ranked in the top 100 list of international universities for IS research and Dr. Matt Germonprez, assistant professor of information systems at UW-Eau Claire, is currently ranked on the list of top 100 individual IS researchers as part of the ongoing 2007-2009. This is following a top 100 ranking for the UW-Eau Claire College of Business between 2006-2008.

"The ranking is another mark of excellence that distinguishes our IS program from others across the country,” said Germonprez. “The ranking illustrates how UW-Eau Claire is competing on an international level," he said.

About the Top Six IS Journals

The Association of Information Systems (AIS) encourages members to treat a "basket" of 6 journals as the top journals in the IS field. The six journals, listed in alphabetical order, are as follows:

  • European Journal of Information Systems
  • Information Systems Journal
  • Information Systems Research
  • Journal of Association of Information Systems
  • Journal of Management Information Systems
  • Management Information Systems Quarterly

The journal list recognizes topical, methodological, and geographic diversity. In addition, the review processes are stringent, editorial board members are widely-respected and recognized, and there is international readership and contribution. This list was adopted from a formal statement by the "Senior Scholars Forum", a group of senior information systems academics who have served as editors-in-chief of MIS Quarterly and ISR, plus former ICIS program chairs and presidents of AIS.
