American Marketing Association Helps the Community
By Kelli Renstrom and Holly Stavnes
On Sunday, October 24, seventeen members of American Marketing Association (AMA) volunteered their time by cleaning up both sides of the road off of Clairemont Avenue along Hendrickson Drive towards I-94. Students gathered in a parking lot where they were given supplies such as plastic gloves and large garbage bags. AMA picks up this part of the highway twice a year and ends up with garbage bags full of trash! Thanks to an awesome turnout, the cleanup was successful and we look forward to continuing helping out the environment.
Indianhead Area Special Olympics hosts many events throughout the year. AMA was involved in the October 23 event and had volunteers assist in the execution of the event. On November 13, there is another Special Olympics bowling event in various locations around Eau Claire: Wagners, Bowl Winkles, and UWEC Hilltop Center.
Other community service events that AMA is involved in are the 3 to 5 Homework Club and Book Brigade. The 3 to 5 Homework Club is an after school homework club! Sessions include study time and time for reading, games, or crafts. Book Brigade is a volunteer reading program that involves about 20 minutes a week helping out with reading books!
