Practicum Student Leadership Posters: 2013 Top Ten Finalists
Danielle Ernst, from Butternut, WI, created the Virtual Dementia Tour to help caregivers experience what it is like to live with dementia by letting them walk "virtually" in their clients' shoes.
Hannah L. Johnson, from Edgar, WI, received the 2013 UW-Eau Claire Innovation Leadership Project Award. Johnson's project explored the effect of music on residents who experience depression, anxiety, dementia, behaviors and pain.
Hannah M. Johnson, from Westby, WI, received the 2013 UW-Eau Claire Internal or Operational Improvement Award. Johnson's leadership project examined staff turnover at her practicum site. A mentorship program has been implemented to reduce turnover.
Derek Joswiak, from Stratford, WI, received the 2013 UW-Eau Claire External or Community Award. Joswiak organized an event to honor local Purple Heart recipients. The event included a WWII display, a gun salute and a missing man formation flyover.
Marissa Neas, from La Crosse, WI, developed a new call-in and attendance policy for the nursing department at Bethany Riverside in La Crosse, WI. Neas created a policy which inspired changes in the attendance policies at other residents within the Bethany Lutheran Homes Corporation.
Ashley Patterson, from Burnsville, MN, received the 2013 UW-Eau Claire Customer Service Leadership Project Award for her project which sought to reduce the number of caregivers a resident received.
Mee Yang, from Greenfield, WI, established emergency assessment and response procedures to proactively respond to OSHA's new guidelines for preventing workplace violence for health care and social service workers.
