Robert and Karin Sampson Nontraditional Student Scholarship

Bob Sampson(contingent upon funding)

In order to apply for this scholarship, the applicant must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be a continuing Communication,Mass Communication, Journalism major or minor

  • Have applied for a Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA) and the FAFSA must indicate financial need
     
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Be a junior or senior

  • Be a non-traditional student who is a parent

Dr. Robert Sampson, professor of communication and journalism, retired in June 2006 after nearly 26 years of service to UW-Eau Claire. He taught courses in organizational communication analysis, human resource development, small group communication, research methods and administrative communication and served as department chairman from 1980 to 1997. For ten years he supervised the selection and preparation of student commencement speakers, and he was also the elected university representative to the Wisconsin Communication Association Board. He was subsequently elected editor of the WCA newsletter and Journal of the Wisconsin Communication Association. Sampson is proud of the fact that students in his CJ 459 course have conducted organizational communication analyses for more than 30 local organizations.
