In order to apply for this scholarship, the applicant must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:
- Be an unpaid or freelance staff writer/reporter who has demonstrated excellence in writing and/or reporting
- Have made major contributions of time and effort to the editorial success of The Spectator
- The recipient of this award is expected to apply and continue on The Spectator staff in the fall
Professor Henry Lippold established the broadcast journalism sequence at UW-Eau Claire. His life and career represent the classic bridge between academics and the broadcast industry. He taught broadcast journalism at UW-Eau Claire from 1972 to 2001. Lippold received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin- Madison and a master's in journalism from Northwestern University. In June 2002, he was inducted into the Wisconsin Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
