An Interview with Andy D.
Andy D., a Broadfield Social Studies major, chose to study abroad at Harlaxton College because many of his classes were history-based and the required six-credit British Studies course was a great fit with his major.  He also appreciated that Harlaxton offers small class sizes and the teachers are easy to approach if you need help.  “I worked really hard on academics.  The small class sizes really helped with understanding the material and getting help if needed.”

Then there are the living arrangements.  Per Andy, “You get to live in a beautiful 19th century manor house.  Living in the manor is great, and the town isn’t far away.  You just need to hop on the Harlaxton shuttle and you are there 10 minutes later.  The people are great and the country is beautiful.”

Harlaxton offers a lot of travel opportunities.   “I traveled to Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Germany, France, Czech Republic, and Austria.  Many of these were school-organized trips; however, the independent travel wasn’t that hard to organize and was a little bit cheaper.”

Andy’s favorite experience while abroad:  “Exploring cities with my friends and getting lost.  That’s the best way to really get to know a town.  Don’t be a tourist.  I got to meet people and learn things about their country that I never would have found out had I just gone sightseeing.”
