Orientation week is the beginning of your journey in the United States and at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. The orientation program offers you many benefits and opportunities to meet other new and returning students, an introduction to American life and culture, and assistance with course selection and registration. Orientation also includes discussions regarding immigration, employment, insurance, banking, housing, and academics. Orientation also provides an overview of the facilities at UW - Eau Claire and many the opportunities for activities and recreation.
Orientation week begins when your hosts will help you move into your residence hall. Students staying in local hotels instead of with hosts are responsible for contacting the Center for International Education for special arrangements and being on time for orientation. You will have Peer Guides to assist you during the orientation program. Peer Guides are American and international students who have studied at UW - Eau Claire for a number of years. Your Peer Guides have gone through extensive training. They are ready to help you register for courses, adjust to UW - Eau Claire, make friends, and have fun. They can answer many of your questions.
Please see the Spring 2012 Arrival Booklet for details about the time and location of orientation. The arrival booklet will be sent to you when you are accepted.
