Programs and Activities

The CIE has many programs designed to integrate you into the campus and community, promote friendship and intercultural exchange, and allow you to experience all that the university, the area, and the upper Midwest of the United States has to offer.

Our Host Friend Program allows you to connect with a local family. The program begins with a 3-day home-stay at the beginning of your period of study, after which you stay in touch with your host on a regular basis. Another program, the International Buddy Project, matches international students and domestic students for friendship and the exchange of cultural perspectives. International Folk Fair, held each fall, is a celebration of diversity with ethnic food, international displays and performances.
