One of the popular programs that international students and community members are able to participate in at UW - Eau Claire is the Host Friend Program. This program matches new international students with a friend in the community before they arrive. Upon the student's arrival, the host friend meets the student at the airport to take the student into their home for a few short days. The short homestay is one of the most unique attributes of the host friend program that sets UW - Eau Claire apart from other universities.

After the initial homestay (typically 2-3 days), hosts and students are encouraged to contact each other at least once a month for activities of their choosing to continue the friendship. The host friend program provides a warm welcome to international students when they arrive and a network of support and friendship while they are studying here.
