One of the popular programs that international students and community members are able to participate in at UW-Eau Claire is the Host Friend Program. This program matches new international students with a friend in the community before they arrive. Upon the student’s arrival, the host friend meets the student in Eau Claire at the airport or bus terminal to take the student into their home for a few short days. The short homestay is one of the most unique attributes of the host friend program that sets UWEC apart from other universities.

After the initial homestay (typically 2-3 days), hosts and students are encouraged to contact each other at least once a month for activities of their choosing to continue the friendship. The host friend program provides a warm welcome to international students when they arrive and a network of support and friendship while they are studying here.
