The
purpose of the Global English Organiation (GEO) is to provide a forum
for discussion of pedagogical and political issues surrounding the teaching
and learning of English as a Second Language (ESL).
The organization will serve as a resource and focus on professional development
through collaboration with colleagues within the university, in other
academic settings, in the community and at state, national and international conventions.
Some proposed activities for collaboration include: developing professional networks, sharing job-related information, advocating for non-native speakers of English and seeking opportunities for student research and publishing, guest speaker presentations, among other scholarly activities. The organization strives to forge global communication contacts for both teaching and learning English.
We want to know more about other cultures,
countries, customs, and communications. If you would like to participate
in activities or join the organization, please contact the Department
of Foreign Languages, 378 Hibbard Hall. Also, check out our GEO
flyer (Adobe Acrobat
document).
