Re-Energize your percussionists with new teaching tools that are sure to improve both their technical and musical skills. Together we’ll discuss new methods of pedagogy and sharpen skills on commonly used percussion instruments.
We’ll also review the proper care for percussion instruments including basic head-changing procedures and quality of sound issues – you’ll leave with the ability to perform basic maintenance and instrument repair and be prepared to teach those skills to your students!
Dr. Crowell will provide information on solo ensemble literature and you’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to teach/direct/perform some chamber percussion literature.

Jeff Crowell is an Associate Professor of Music and Coordinator of the Wind and Percussion Division at UW-Eau Claire, teaches applied percussion and percussion techniques, conducts the UW-Eau Claire Percussion Ensembles, and leads Jazz Ensemble III, part of the outstanding UW-Eau Claire jazz area. Active throughout the United States as a clinician, adjudicator, and educator, he has performed internationally and has numerous recording credits with artists such as Bobby Shew, Louie Bellson, David Samuels, and Henry Mancini, to name a few. He marched with the Velvet Knights Drum and Bugle Corps taught on the staff of the Tournament of Roses Marching Honor Band. He is a performing artist/clinician for Mapex Concert/Quantum Marching and Majestic Concert Percussion, Mapex Drumsets and Hardware, Sabian Cymbals, Gon Bops World Percussion, REMO Drumheads, and Innovative Percussion Sticks and Mallets. He is also an Ensemble Artist and Educator Network member for Black Swamp Percussion. |

Perfecting Percussion is offered for one graduate credit. The fee is $475.12 for Wisconsin residents; $503.57 for Minnesota residents.Cancellation Policy | Credit

This workshop can be taken for non-credit. The fee is $199, OR take this course and Creative Jazz Workshop together for $375.Cancellation Policy | Non-Credit
You may cancel your registration up to five business days before the start date for a full refund. You may cancel within five business days of the start for a refund less a $25 administrative fee. No refunds will be given as of the first day of class.
