A structured support/consultation small-group discussion session.
Who Should Attend
Any interpreter working in emotionally or psychologically highly-charged settings.
You and fellow interpreters will utilize “collegial support” as a means to reduce and prevent the occurrence of secondary trauma reactions that may result from repeated exposure to potentially traumatizing information.
This will be a structured support/consultation small-group discussion session. You will complete a set of 22 pre- and post-assessment questions that will anonymously rate your level of comfort in mental health settings, personal exposure to mental health work, strategies for self-care, knowledge of basic mental health interventions, interpreting tools and psychological awarenessSchedule

Instructor
Arlyn Anderson, CI, CT, CPCC, brings over twenty years of interpreting experience and a lifetime of curiosity about mental and behavioral health to her work as an interpreter, consultant, and life coach. She created, published, and presents a holistic, comfortable, replicable approach to interpreting in mental health settings. Arlyn is a contributor to the RID Standard Practice Paper on Mental Health Interpreting and the NCIEC Mental Health Interpreting Domains and Competencies, and the author of MENTAL HEALTH INTERPRETING, a 16-week mentored curriculum for New Mexico Mentoring. Arlyn is the owner of Whole Interpreter Enterprises, LLC and ID Matters in Minneapolis, MN.
Fee
$49 includes instruction, course materials, morning coffee/tea, lunch, and afternoon refreshments.
Cancellation Policy
You may cancel your registration up to 5 business days before a program’s start date, and we will refund your payment less a $25 administrative fee. If you cancel fewer than 5 business days prior to the program start date, no refund will be given. Full refund will be given if a program is cancelled or filled. You may substitute another person for your registration at any time. Call the Continuing Education Office (715-836-3636/toll free 866-893-2423) for assistance.
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient enrollment or other administrative reasons, as well as the right to limit enrollment to ensure quality. In the event of a UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education cancellation, a full refund will be issued. Our liability is limited to the refund of the program fee.
