Have you thought about starting your own foot and nail care business? Come learn from others who have done just that.  Speakers include a nurse entrepreneur, retired UW-Eau Claire Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences who has expertise in grant writing, and Tara Beuscher, DNP and nationally recognized foot and nail care expert.

Who Should Attend

Past, current and future RN/LPNs who have attended the Foot and Nail Care: Education for Nurses program or other RN/LPNs who have an interest in developing their own foot and nail care business.

Presenters

Tara Beuscher, DNP, RN-C, APNP, GCNS-BC, ANP-BC, CWOCN, CFCN, Adult Nurse Practitioner, Minocqua, WI.
Dr. Beuscher, an Adult Nurse Practitioner with the Marshfield Clinic – Minocqua Center, brings a wealth of teaching and clinical experience in foot and nail care to this course. She is also certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gerontology. She draws upon her work experience in clinic, hospital, home care and long term care settings, and her extensive training in foot care, gerontology, wound, ostomy, continence, and pain management services. She has been teaching foot and nail care since 1991 and has taught the Foot and Nail Care: Education for Nurses course in Eau Claire for over fifteen years.

Dr. Beuscher is a renowned national speaker on foot and nail care and has served in various leadership positions within professional organizations. She was a member of the foot care nursing advisory committee that established the content outline for WOCNCB’s Foot and Nail Care Certification Examination. Dr. Beuscher's publications include a chapter on foot and nail care in Acute and Chronic Wounds: Current Management Concepts; 3rd Edition, 2007, published by Mosby/Elsevier and edited by Ruth A. Bryant and Denise P. Nix. She was a recipient of the 1997 Wisconsin Nurses Association Nursing Practice Award that recognizes the recipient’s contributions to innovations in patient care, service as a role model for nursing practice, commitment to the practice of professional nursing and utilization and dissemination of research in practice.

Marjorie Bottoms, Ph.D., RN, BSN, MSN
With a career spanning more than 40 years, Bottoms has extensive experience in nursing practice, education and administration. She has been a faculty member in hospital, community college and university nursing programs and served as a hospital staff development director.  Bottoms was the leader in the development of an accredited associate degree and RN to BSN program.  At UW-Eau Claire, she held positions both as an educator and administrator, where she obtained and managed several large grants. An active volunteer in retirement, she has obtained many grants for the Humane Association. 

Jackie Hjelm, RN, BSN, MSN
Experience as a clinical consultant and in medical software sales served as the foundation for launching Suite Scheduler, Inc, a business now in its 11th year. Together with a colleague and a software engineer, a business plan was developed and public and private funding secured.  The business placed second in the “Build Your Business Award” held in Eau Claire, and acquired a $150,000 Small Business Association loan. Now web-based and debt-free, Hjelm credits creating and following an effective business plan with the company’s success. Her focus in the company is leadership; consulting; teaching; organization, communication, and collaboration. Her business partner’s technical expertise complements Hjelm’s skill set and serves as the company’s product manager.

Fee

$59. Fee includes materials and refreshments.

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your registration up to 5 business days before a program’s start date, and we will refund your payment less a $25 administrative fee. If you cancel fewer than 5 business days prior to the program start date, no refund will be given. Full refund will be given if a program is canceled or filled.
