Phonetics: Theory and Application

In this class, you'll have the chance to learn or brush up on practical phonetic transcription and phonetic/acoustic analysis skills. You'll practice the application of accents and accent addition therapy, phonological processes and phonological articulation therapy, stuttering/cluttering and voice resonance therapy – and even introduce some phonetic application needs of your own.

Instructor

Dr. Vicki Samelson teaches courses in language acquisition and intervention and provides clinical supervision for undergraduate and graduate student clinicians in the areas of aural rehabilitation and child phonology, articulation, and language.  She supervises graduate clinicians as they conduct assessments in the UW-Eau Claire interdisciplinary Human Development Center.  Her current research interests include language comprehension processes, children’s problem solving strategies, and evidence-based language interventions that can be implemented in classroom, home, and therapy settings.
