Teenagers in Despair
Discover a model that draws upon multiple theoretical perspectives and capitalizes on the adolescent's strengths and enhances the adolescent's skills. Part 4 of the series will cover topics involving prevention and treatment strategies for:
- Adolescent depression
- Other mood problems
- Problematic moodiness
- Suicidal ideation and behavior
An emphasis will be placed on understanding adolescent mood problems from a developmental framework and how practitioners can respond when treating adolescent depression.
At any given time up to 20% of children and adolescents meet diagnostic criteria for a psychological condition. This accounts for the majority of mental health referrals in primary care. Countless studies have pointed to a need to improve adolescent mental health programming. Earning your Adolescent Mental Health Certificate will provide you with practical approaches when working with adolescents experiencing mental health problems.

Presenter
Michael I. Axelrod, Ph.D., is currently the director of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Human Development Center and an associate professor in the department of Psychology. His research and clinical interests involve finding solutions to common but potentially harmful child and adolescent problems. He has written numerous professional papers and presented nationally on topics involving child, pediatric, and school psychology. Drawing on over 15 years of experience providing clinical services to children, adolescents, and families, Dr. Axelrod uses his knowledge and expertise, along with a little humor, to teach practitioners ways to be more effective in everyday practice.
Fee
$89 for a single workshop.
$169 for a full day (2 workshops) = $84.50/program*
$319 for all 4 workshops = $159.50/day and $79.75/program*
Fee includes workshop materials and refreshments.
Graduate Credit Available*
You may register to earn 1 graduate credit if attending the full certificate series. Add $180 to your certificate fee (total $499) if you would like to earn 1 graduate credit.

CEUs/Contact Hours
Participants will earn up to 3.25 continuing education contact hours for each workshop for a total of 13 contact hours for the certificate.
Cancellation Policy
You may cancel your registration up to 5 business days before the start date for a refund less a $25 administrative fee. If you cancel fewer than 5 business days before the start date, no refund will be given. If you do not attend the program, you are responsible for the full fee. If the program is cancelled or full, we will refund the program fee. You may substitute another person for your registration at any time. Call us for assistance.
