Introduction to Japanese Box Making | September 2012
This class met Wednesdays from September 26 – November 7. Through the duration of the course, students learned basic bookbinding skills and explored the traditional Japanese methods to construct the Japanese box. Students came away with a beautiful handmade box in which they can store books, papers, jewelry, photographs and memorabilia.
Geology Field Trip | September 2012
On Saturday, September 22, a group of 35 people from Wisconsin and Minnesota ventured into the Blue Hills Felsenmeer located in Rusk County, WI. The field trip was led by Dr. Kent Syverson, UW-Eau Claire Geology Department Chair. The group learned about the Frac Sand controversy on the way to the Felsenmeer and got a broad overview of the Felsenmeer, including how it was formed and the geology of the area around it. Digital Photography: Lighting Techniques | June 2012
This unique, new course was offered this summer and focused on the most important aspect of photography – Light. Students learned how to manipulate scenes to achieve a desired effect. Everyone had a great time learning in the classroom as well as getting some hands on experience outside. Check it all out in the pictures below!
