CASE invites students to Be Smart & Buddy Up

During the first 2 weeks of March 2015, CASE is encouraging all UW-Eau Claire students to stick together and watch out for each other during the Be Smart. Buddy Up. campaign. CASE peer educators came up with the idea for the campaign after discussing the alcohol related deaths and accidents that have occurred in the past on campus, and noticed often these terrible tragedies happened when young men had been separated from their friends after a night out drinking. This raised the questions, What if those students had stayed with their friends? Could those losses and accidents have been prevented?

As part of the campaign this March, students will see posters that ask students to make sure that their friends, guys and girls, have someone to walk home with at night. CASE students will be handing out Be Smart. Buddy Up. bracelets to their fellow students, and students will be invited during the month of March to post pictures on Instagram or Twitter with #besmartbuddyup to show how they stay together to stay safe.

CASE hopes that increased awareness of the importance of looking out for each other and follow up action, UW-Eau Claire students will avoid the tragedies of the past.Be Smart. Buddy Up.

Stay Dry this April with CASE's sober month challenge!

Dry April LogoEach April, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) sponsors Alcohol Awareness Month to increase public awareness and understanding of alcoholism and alcohol related issues.

This year, during the entire month, CASE invites students who drink to participate in the Stay Dry this April Sober Month Challenge. Students can pledge on their own or with friends to stay booze free for the month, and when they register, students will get support from CASE with daily encouragement about health benefits, fun things to do, and of course, the opportunity to win prizes.

Check back soon for more information to pledge and to learn more about the Dry April kick-off event and other activities happening during the month.
