Washington, DC is an international city. Living and working here for much of the past 20 years has exposed me to people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds in both my personal and professional life. It is a challenging and competitive atmosphere that can be as intimidating as it is fascinating.
I have always felt the liberal arts educational I received at UW-Eau Claire has served me well in any situation I have encountered here. As journalist, I have been required to report on everything from politics to weather and I have always felt well-equipped to handle any assignment I have been given.
I believe so many of the things you are required to learn in college seem so theoretical and impractical when you are in your 20's. You can't appreciate them until you have lived long enough to have put them to use in your daily life. I think that's why I appreciate my experiences at UW-EC now more than ever. It's taken me this long to finally get it.
