What is it?
The Pre-Med Career Exploration Program is an observation program that connects UW-Eau Claire students from all majors and career interests with medical professionals at Mayo Clinic Health System- Eau Claire.
After paperwork and training is completed, you will be able to meet with physicians and observe patient contact. The degree of observation varies between experience. Starting dates and the amount of time spent in clinic also varies.
Getting started:
- Review the powerpoint
- Email Bailey Gomer to indicate your interest.
- If you have additional questions, and would like to address them before deciding if the program is right for you, email Bailey with your questions or you can request to meet with her.
- Include primary specialty of interest and two secondary specialties of interest, as well as state of residence.
- The reply email you receive from Bailey will include the required paperwork to print and fill out.
- Obtain a negative TB test and current immunization record. TB tests can be obtained at Student Health Services for $10.
- Immunization records can usually be obtained from Student Health Services or contact your parents or family doctor.
When your paperwork is completed:
- Either turn them into the front desk of Career Services, Schofield 230 or request to meet with Bailey. This will give you an opportunity to ask any questions and to get the witness signatures completed, if needed. (The witness signatures on the paperwork can be completed by anyone.)
- Wait for an email from Bailey including physician assignment and further information about contacting your mentor.
