Textbooks for Online Courses
For Students
Graduate students are not part of the rental system and must purchase their textbooks. Students may order books for delivery or in-store pick up by visiting the bookstore’s website.
UW-Eau Claire undergraduate students may obtain textbooks for online courses from the University Bookstore's Instructional Resource Rental Department, located in Davies Center, by filling out the Online Textbook Request Form. Students living near Eau Claire may pick up and return their textbooks in person and avoid the shipping charge.
All textbooks will be mailed according to shipping dates in timeline. A shipping fee of $6.95 will be charged to mail your textbook. If possible, students should request their textbooks two weeks prior to the beginning of classes to insure they will have their books prior to class.
Students must return all rental materials according to the semester timeline; fines are imposed for late return. Students enrolled in online courses may return materials via U.S. Mail and include payment of fine, if applicable, according to postmarked date on package (see Online Textbook Rental Return Form).
CDs, manuals, study guides and other media that are checked out as a set with textbook must be returned with the textbooks.
Students will be required to pay the replacement price for the complete textbook set if all materials in the set are not returned.
If you wish to buy the textbook you've rented for your professional library, a purchase period is set each semester. Buy your current textbooks -- or any textbook in the IRR inventory -- for 25% off the replacement price. Students taking courses online may purchase their textbooks by calling the bookstore at (715) 836-2171.
