From cat memes to panda cams, from Seaworld to Animal Planet, people like to look at animals. If it’s true that “we polish an animal mirror to look for ourselves” (Haraway, 1978), what is it we’re looking for? This Blugold Seminar considers the ways we portray animals and how that impacts the ways we perceive and treat real animals.
