Jasmine Case | Fall 2013 | MTWThF 8:00-8:50 AM
Our course will examine different issues surrounding food and our society. We will read Tracie McMillan’s The American Way of Eating and some other texts and explore the many roles food plays in our lives from a variety of perspectives:
- How does society decide what is good to eat?
- What led to the buzz about foodies in pop culture? What is the impact of this popularity?
- What social, environmental, and economic issues are involved in food production/service?
- How do a person’s choices about food reflect their culture, economics, politics, and/or ethnicity?
