In the fourth and final section, students will bring together their skills and the course goals by undertaking scholarly research on a topic of their choice and by contributing to the existing conversation on that topic. Students will make decisions about the rhetorical aspects of their final paper or project (such as intended purpose, targeted audience, genre, format, etc.).
Students' final projects in English 110 and 112 show their rhetorical awareness by creating an project with a specific purpose and audience. Students have responded to a specific exigence (a problem that can be addressed through rhetoric) by creating YouTube videos, planning multimedia presentations, writing essays, and more. This project highlights students' abilities to make choices about their text in order to meet specific purposes in specific contexts.
