Civil Rights Pilgrimage
2017 Winter Break and Spring Break Civil Rights Pilgrimages
Pilgrimage will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, January 6th and March 17th. Participants will travel to Atlanta, Georgia;Birmingham, Montgomery, Selma, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Gulfport, Mississippi, New Orleans, Louisiana;Little Rock, Arkansas;and Memphis, Tennessee. Participants will return to Eau Claire on Monday, January 16th or Sunday, March 26th.
The cost of the trip is $650 and includes transportation, lodging, museum admission and some meals. A $75 deposit is required at the time of registration. The application can be found here! If you're not affiliated with UWEC, Apply here! Beginning on Monday, October 3rd. Students should pay their $75 deposit at the Blugold Central desk to complete the registration process. Registration will continue until all 100 slots are filled.
Students will also have the opportunity to register for Women's Studies 222 or Honors 163: Women and the Civil Rights Movement, a three credit GE 3 course. The course is offered during winterim from 9:00 to noon January 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 17, 18, 19, 20. Spring course dates are Wednesdays: February 8, 15, 22, March 1, 8, 15, 29, and April 5, 12,19, 26 from 4:30 to :5:45 p.m. Students must first register for the trip to receive permission to register for the course from the Women's Studies Office.
