Video Editing
Video editing tools allow users to manipulate existing videos in many ways. Creativity and customization can be implemented in forming an entirely new art form. Pictures, audio, text and more can be added to video clips. Users can also alter the length of a video and save it to a new form, such as YouTube, to share it with the public. Students can express themselves in their own videos and communicate with others on campus or across the world.
As long as the user follows Copyright and Accessibility Law, video from Existing Multimedia can be edited and customized using video editing tools. Also, these tools are useful in the creation of Instructional Videos and in Creating Video with PowerPoint.

MediaConverter - FreeFileConvert
MediaConverter is a program that can be used for free and with no download. It allows a user to input a web URL (e.g., to a YouTube video) and have the video converted to a file that can be saved to a computer. By converting a YouTube video to a file using MediaConverter, the video can be saved to a computer and embedded within a PowerPoint. Embedding this file allows access to a format of the YouTube video that is accessible even without an internet connection available. With MediaConverter, a user is also able to edit the video in Premiere Elements or iMovie and shorten the video to the portion that is going to be used in the presentation.
Note: You can simply link to videos posted on websites such as YouTube. The problem is that these links may be deleted and the clip will no longer be available. If you create your own embeddable file using MediaConverter, you can ensure that you will always have a persistent link to the video file.
What can I do with it?
- Grab a clip from YouTube and embed in your D2L course space to kick-off the week's topic. Post additional text to set up the clip and tie it to concepts that will be covered in the course materials.
