WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD WRAPS UP LAST CHANCE ACTION

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire women’s track and field team competed in four last chance meets Thursday and Friday, a week before the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship that will take place May 22-24 in Oshkosh.

On Thursday the 4x100-meter relay team hit a Division III provisional qualifying mark with a time of 47.95, taking first in the event at the UW-La Crosse Last Chance meet. Amy Morse (Jr.-Kaukauna, Wis.) also has a provisional qualifying distance of 141-11 in the discus throw where she placed fifth. Ewa Warnquist (Jr.-Vaxjo, Sweden/Af Chapman) came up just shy of a provisional qualifying time (25.32) in the 200-meter dash as she finished fifth with a time of 25.74.

Mary Palmer (Jr.-Anoka, Minn.) and Elly Prunty (So.-Antigo, Wis.) also attended the North Central Last Chance meet in Naperville, Illinois on Thursday. Prunty picked up a personal best and Division III provisional qualifying time in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 37:17.53 for a third place finish. Palmer also had a personal best but came up about three seconds short of a provisional qualifying time in the 5,000-meter run for an eighth place finish with a time of 17:38.06. On Friday at North Central, Hannah Humbach (So.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life) and Claudia Borlee (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) both scored provisional qualifying times of 10:55.00 and 11:09.5 for fifth and 10th place, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Bridget Wolfe (Sr.-Arcadia, Wis.) attended the UW-River Falls Last Chance Heptathlon meet on Thursday and Friday. She took first place in the event with 4,443 points, a provisional qualifying total. She placed first in the high jump, second in the 100-meter hurdles, long jump and 800-meter run, and fourth in the 200-meter dash and javelin throw.

On Friday part of the team was in Rock Island, Illinois for the Augustana Last Chance meet. Liz Faller (Sr.-Marinette, Wis.) ran to a provisional qualifying time, just shy of an automatic qualification, in the 400-meter hurdles. She took the top spot in the event with a time of 1:02.68. Hayley Suckow (So.-Elk Mound, Wis.) had a provisional qualifying height of 12-0 ½ in the pole vault to take third overall.
