WOMEN'S TRACK NABS QUALIFICATIONS AT LAST CHANCE MEET

LA CROSSE - The UW-Eau Claire women's track team looked for qualifications to nationals today as it competed in UW-La Crosse's Last Chance Meet, with three individuals and one group making qualifications.

Stephanie Barnes (Jr.-Sauk City/Sauk Prairie) had an NCAA automatic qualifying showing in the pole vault on her winning 3.76 meters (12'4").

Liz Faller (Jr.-Marinette) claimed an NCAA automatic qualification and first place on a 14.41 run in the 100-meter hurdles. It is now the team high and conference high.

Brooke Schmidt (Sr.-Rice Lake/Stanley-Boyd) and her 43.01 meters (141'1") grabbed an NCAA provisional qualification in the discus throw. She also took third today.

The 4x400-meter relay provisionally qualified for the nationals on a first-place 3:52.50 performance, which is best for the year.

Molly Warner (So.-Mosinee) ran into fourth place in the 5000-meter run on an 18:00.61 time but took no qualifications. In the same event, Jane-Marie Ovanin (Sr.-Amherst) placed sixth and clocked in at 18:43.45.

The next event for the team is the NCAA Outdoor Championships May 25-May 27.
