WOMEN'S TRACK TEAM PUTS UP TOP PERFORMANCES AT OLE OPEN
NORTHFIELD, MN - St. Olaf's Ole Open, held in the Tostrud Center, did not keep team stats but that did not prevent the UW-Eau Claire women's track team members from continuing their excellence. It is the first such meet this season for Eau Claire, which is ranked second in the nation. Also, the team has yet to be beaten in any meet thus far. Several Blugolds took first in their events. In the 400-meter dash, Liz Kooistra (Fr.-Lakeville, MN) set a new Tostrud Center record with a 57.28 run. The old record of 58.32 was set in 2003 by St. Olaf's Megan Daymont. This is also a new Eau Claire record in the 400-meter. The previous one was 58.75, held by Tina Soderberg and also Breanna McMullen. Liz Faller (Jr.-Marinette) took first in the 55-meter hurdles on an 8.40 time. The 11.46 meter (37'71/4") jump of Erin Kokta (Sr.-Brookfield/East) was the farthest of the day in the triple jump event. The Blugolds had one person finish in second. Kasey Stanek (Sr.-La Crosse/Central) was the 3000-meter runner up in 10:44.81. Many more Eau Claire athletes ended up in third place. In the 200-meter dash, Shalene Huth (Jr.-Appleton/West) ran a 26.95 race. Sarah Stirdivant (Fr.-Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks W.) had a 1:00.72 day in the 400-meter event. Running the 800-meter race in 2:23.03, Krystyn Stowe (Fr.-Elm Grove/Brookfield East) also placed herself in the third place group. The next event is a big one for the women's track team. They head to Stevens Point for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Conference Championships next Friday and Saturday. Ole Open Results - PH -
