STAFSLEIN ADVANCES TO FINALS IN 100-METER HURDLES
CANTON, N.Y. - Jennifer Stafslien (So.-Onalaska/West Salem) recorded the third quickest time in 100-meter hurdles qualifying as she advanced to the finals of the competition here today at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships held at the Merrick-Pinkard Track complex on the St. Lawrence University campus.
Stafslien covered the distance in a time of 14.80 while Paulette Baldwin of Lehman College was the quickest in qualifying with a time of 14.47. Finals for the 100-meter hurdles competition will be held Saturday at 2:20 p.m.
Stafslien also competed in the triple jump competition at nationals but failed to advance past round one. Earlier this season she became the school record holder in the triple jump at the WIAC Outdoor Championships with a jump of 11.63 meters.
Breanna McMullen (Jr.-Fall Creek) also participated in the 100-meter hurdle event alongside Stafslien but was unable to advance. McMullen did advance in the 400-meter hurdle event on Thursday and will compete in the finals of the event.
McMullen and Stafslien will both be in competition on Saturday as well as men's track and field members John Brumund-Smith (Sr.-Waunakee) who will be competing in the 400-meter hurdles finals after advancing past the qualifying round on Thursday. John Schuna (So.-Hudson) will also be in action on Saturday in the shot put competition. Schuna currently holds the school record in the shot put with a distance of 17.55 meters.
