WOMEN’S TENNIS ROSTER FINALIZED

EAU CLAIRE – After last year’s UW-Eau Claire women’s tennis team took third in the conference and third in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships, third-year coach Craig Monson returns seven letterwinners.

A couple of those returning letterwinners bring a lot of experience and success from last season when they were members of All-WIAC Second Team Doubles squads, though they were not partners with each other. Senior Laura Geissler (Coon Rapids, MN) and junior Kristie Carlson (Arden Hills, MN/Mounds View) both qualified for the honor last year with their respective partners and both finished second in the WIAC Championships with their duos.

Letterwinners Liz Deprey (Jr.-Green Bay/Notre Dame) and Kristin Neuman (Jr.-Green Bay/Ashwaubenon) took third at No. 3 doubles last year in the championships and Deprey also managed third in No. 3 singles play. The pair looks to experience similar success this season with fellow returning letterwinners Whitney Hay (Jr.-New Richmond), Sarah Riordan (Jr.-Appleton/North), and Alli Taplin (Sr.-Dayton, MN/Champlin Park).

The youth movement in the team comes from five freshmen. They include Katie Brugh (Burnsville, MN), Gina Dahl (Fort Atkinson), Courtney Lynne (Rochester, MN/Mayo), Brenna McCormick (Greendale), and Erin Welch (Tomah).

This is Craig Monson’s third year as coach. The previous two years the team has either tied for third or placed third in the WIAC.
