WOMEN’S TENNIS ANNOUNCES TEAM AWARD WINNERS

EAU CLAIRE – UW-Eau Claire head women’s tennis coach Craig Monson has recently announced the team award winners for the 2006-07 season.

Brenna McCormick (Fr.-Greendale) was named Singles Most Valuable Player. McCormick posted a team-best singles record of 20-6 including a 9-2 record at No. 5 singles and a 10-1 mark at No. 6 singles.

The Doubles Most Valuable Player Award went to Laura Geissler (Sr.-Coon Rapids, MN). Geissler recorded an overall doubles record of 19-10 including a 12-4 mark at No. 1 doubles.

The Most Improved Award was given to Erin Welch (Fr.-Tomah). Welch posted an overall singles record of 10-2 including a perfect 7-0 mark at No. 6 singles.

The Hustle Award went to Sarah Riordan (Jr.-Appleton/North). Riordan tallied an overall singles record of 14-5 with all matches coming at the No. 1 flight.

The Blugold Award was presented to Gina Dahl (Fr.-Fort Atkinson). Dahl recorded an overall singles record of 14-14 including a 14-4 record at No. 2 singles. Dahl also posted an overall record of 15-8 including a 9-1 count at No. 3 doubles.

The Coach’s Award was given to both Carlson and Dahl.

The Blugolds posted an overall record of 25-9 going 15-6 in dual meets and 5-1 in conference duals. The Blugolds finished second at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships where Monson earned Coach of the Year honors.
