WOMEN'S TENNIS TOPS POINTERS TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED
EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team won every set en route to a 9-0 victory over conference rival UW-Stevens Point here today in Eau Claire.
Leading the way once again for Eau Claire was Alison Hover (Sr-St.Cloud, MN/Tech), winning in straight sets in the No. 1 singles flight. Laurie Alonso (Fr-Austin, MN) also continued her impressive season in the No. 2 singles flight winning in straight sets without losing a single game. Katie Steffes (Fr-St. Joseph, MN/Apollo) also won her match without dropping a game in the No. 6 flight.
Hover and Alonso looked impressive in doubles play as well, winning 8-0 in the No. 1 flight. Jenny Stafford (Jr-Cross Plains/Middleton) and Megan Tauer (Sr-Stillwater, MN) also won their doubles match 8-0 in the No. 2 flight.
The win improves the Blugolds record to 7-0 on the season in dual meets, and 6-0 in conference dual meets. In the six conference meets this season, Eau Claire has lost just one match. Up next for the Blugolds is the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament beginning Saturday October 19.
