BLUGOLD WOMEN TAKE THIRD AT WIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
STEVENS POINT - The UW-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving team concluded the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships in third place here today at the UWSP Aquatics Center.
Cori Severson (Fr.-Brainerd, MN) took third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.84 seconds. Severson finished only one-hundredth of a second behind second place finisher Krista Melvin of UW-La Crosse.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Severson, Nicki Goss (Fr.-Fall Creek/Memorial), Liz Von Feldt (Jr.-Lancaster) and Annie Gorman (Fr.-Menomonie) also took home a third place finish. They finished in a time of 3:40.57.
In the previous two days of competition the Blugolds got third place finishes from Severson in the 50-yard freestyle, Gorman in the 200-yard freestyle, and Adria Bye (Jr.-Appleton/West) in the one and three-meter diving events.
La Crosse won for the second consecutive year edging out Stevens Point 899-872. Following Eau Claire was Oshkosh, River Falls and Whitewater.
