SWIMMERS SPLIT DUAL MEETS AGAINST WARHAWKS

WHITEWATER - The UW-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving team defeated conference opponent UW-Whitewater 143-93 while the men swimmers and divers fell to the Warhawks 134-101 here today.

The Blugold women were led by Cori Severson (Fr-Brainerd, MN) and Liz VonFeldt (Jr-Lancaster) who were each members of the first place 400 yard medley relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay. Severson also took first place in the 200 yard freestyle while VonFeldt won the 200 yard butterfly. Annie Gorman (Fr-Menomonie) was also a member of the first place 400 yard freestyle relay as well as finishing first in the 50 yard freestyle while Andrea Lashbrook (Fr-Neenah) won both diving events for the Blugolds.

The men's team was led by Dan VonFeldt (Sr-Lancaster) who took first in both the one and three meter diving events. Mike Carroll (Jr-Green Lake) took first in the 500 yard freestyle and second in the 200 yard freestyle as well as being a part of both second place relay teams. John Welch (Jr-Marshfield) took first in the 1650 freestyle as well as finishing third in the 200 yard breaststroke.
