THREE SWIMMING AND DIVING MEMBERS EARN WIAC HONORS

MADISON - Three members of the UW-Eau Claire swimming and diving team were named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week, it was announced today by conference sports information director Matt Stanek.

Diver Adria Bye (Jr.-Appleton/West) finished first in three of the four competitions she competed in last week and took second in her only non-first place finish. Against Macalester (MN), Bye finished first in the one and three-meter diving events with scores of 230.75 and 234.20, respectively. She finished first in the three-meter event (234.20) against UW-River Falls and second in the one-meter (215.20).

Swimmer Mike Carroll (Jr.-Green Lake) recorded five first-place finishes and one second-place finishes over the weekend. Against Macalester, Carroll captured first place in the 800-meter freestyle (9:19.61) and the 400 individual medley (5:17.78), as well as finishing second in the 400 meter freestyle (4:33.13). Against UW-River Falls Carroll took first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:35.16), 200-yard butterfly (2:09.94) and 500-yard freestyle (5:10.84).

Diver Scott Heatwole (So.-Port Washington) earned two first-place finishes and two second-place finishes in dual meets against Macalester and UW-River Falls. Heatwole took first in the one-meter event in both meets, with a mark of 233.00 against Macalester and 228.45 against UW-River Falls. Heatwole finished second in the three-meter diving at both competitions with identical scores of 237.95.
