BLUGOLD SWIMMERS AND DIVERS SWEEP MACALESTER

ST. PAUL - The UW-Eau Claire men and women's swimming and diving teams easily swept Macalester College with the men winning 181-56 and the women coming out victorious 192-108 here tonight at Leonard Natatorium.

The men were led by the efforts of Mike Carroll (Jr.-Green Lake) and Steve Fisher (Jr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) who each took home first place finished in two events. Carroll took first in the 800-meter freestyle and 400-meter IM while Fisher placed first in the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter freestyle.

Overall the men took first place in 13 of the 16 events.

The women were led by the diving of Adria Bye (Jr.-Appleton/West). Bye took first in the one-meter dive with a score of 230.75 and in the three-meter dive with a score of 234.20. The women placed first in 12 of the 16 events.

The swimmers and divers will be back in action again tomorrow night as they face off in a dual meet against Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival UW-River Falls. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
