FIVE WOMEN'S HOCKEY PLAYERS EARN ALL-NCHA RECOGNITION

RIVER FALLS - Five members of the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team have earned post-season Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) honors, it was announced recently by conference sports information director Jim Thies.

Earning First Team All-NCHA and All-NCHA Academic honors was defenseman Jen Mead (Sr.-Eau Claire/Regis). In 16 conference games Mead totaled one goal and six assists this season. Mead was also named to the 22-member All-NCHA Academic Team. The announcement marks the second time Mead has earned All-NCHA Academic honors. Mead is a communication/public relations major.

Honorable Mention All-NCHA forward Amanda Schultz (Fr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) totaled nine goals, three coming off power plays, and four assists in 16 conference games. Schultz led the Blugolds with 14 goals, four power play goals and 19 points in 2002-03.

Connie Cameron (Jr.-Chippewa Falls/McDonell) and Jess Schmidt (Sr.-Wauwatosa/East) were each named to their second All-NCHA Academic Team. Cameron is a psychology major while Schmidt is pursuing a degree in public relations.

Sarah Zollars (Jr.-White Bear Lake, MN) was named to her first All-NCHA Academic Team. Zollars is majoring in elementary education.

To be named to the All-NCHA Academic Team a player must have a cumulative 3.00 grade point average, have earned at least 50 semester or 75 quarter hours, and be recommended by her head coach.
