DAY ONE OF ILLINOIS WESLEYAN INVITE COMPLETE

NORMAL, IL - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team finds itself sitting in sixth place out of 25 teams halfway through the Illinois Wesleyan Invite at Ironwood Golf Course.

DePauw University leads by a full ten strokes over second place UW-Stevens Point with 311. The home team is tied for third with SIU-Edwardsville at 322. UW-Oshkosh holds a one-stroke lead over Eau Claire's 328. Southwestern University is next in line at 330.

Sarah Gates of DePauw and Katie Tewell of Franklin College lead all with two-over 74s on the 5,965-yard Ironwood Golf Course.

Torie Ives (Fr.-Osseo/Osseo-Fairchild) was the top Blugold golfer in day one. She is currently tied for fifth with a 78 after shooting 39s on the front and back ends. Ives is even for par 3s on the day. Jesse Thompson (Sr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) sits in a tie for 19th with 81. Meghan Sobotta (Jr.-Arcadia) golfed two strokes behind her and tied for 34th. Sobotta is one-under for par 5s after the first day. The last Blugold to have her strokes count today was Kim Huber (Jr.-White Bear Lake, MN), who shot 86 and tied for 50th.

The concluding day of the meet will begin at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow on the Ironwood Golf Course.
