WOMEN’S GOLF TRAILING WARTBURG AT HOME INVITE
EAU CLAIRE – The UW-Eau Claire women’s golf team finds itself five strokes behind first place at the five-team Blugold Spring Invitational after day one. The Blugold score of 327 trails Wartburg College (IA) and its 322. St. Thomas (MN) is in third with a 329 tally while UW-Stevens Point ranks fourth at 331. St. Mary’s (MN) is a distant fifth with a 400 score. St. Thomas is ranked fifth while the Blugolds are ranked sixth and Wartburg seventh. The Pointers are ranked ninth. The top score of the day on the par-73 Wild Ridge Golf Course was 75. Both Holly Noble from St. Thomas and Steph Burns of Wartburg achieved that mark on the 6,018-yard course. Two Blugolds are tied for fifth. Meghan Sobotta (Jr.-Arcadia) and Jessica Thompson (Sr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) both hit 80s on the day to tie for the spot. Bri Obermueller (Fr.-River Falls) is tied for 12th on an 83 while Kate Borman (Fr.-Kenosha/Bradford) came in one shot behind her. Borman sits tied for 15th. The meet will conclude tomorrow with tee times starting at 9 a.m. It is the last meet of the year for Eau Claire before nationals. Day One Results
