WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY MANTAINS MOMENTUM

WEST SALEM – It was business as usual for the UW-Eau Claire women’s cross country team today as it took fifth out of 28 schools on 191 points at UW-La Crosse’s Tori Neubauer Invite.

In a competition mixed with Division I schools, South Dakota State won it all with 81 points while Northern Iowa followed them at 85. La Crosse placed third with 93 points. Luther College (IA) finished with a 184 in front of the Blugold 191.

The top individual, Hailey Harren, ran for 14th place Gustavus Adolphus College (MN) and finished the course in 21:19.

Molly Warner (Jr.-Mosinee) was the top Eau Claire runner for the fourth meet in a row this season. She placed 10th overall with a 22:16 time. Christina Locke (Sr.-Racine/Horlick) ran six spots behind Warner in 22:42. Cassie Haak (Sr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) clocked in at 22:52 for 24th.

The Lutz girls finished up the Blugold scoring. Beth Lutz (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) finished 62nd in 23:27 while Ellie Lutz (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) claimed 79th on her 23:40 finish. All scorers had their best 6K races of the year.

The Blugolds will next host the Lake Wissota Tri-Meet. The meet featuring Eau Claire, La Crosse and UW-Stout is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. next Friday.
