EAU CLAIRE – The UW-Eau Claire women’s cross country team looks to repeat last year’s success when the team went to the NCAA Division III Nationals.

They include running standouts Bridget Bocher (Jr.-Watertown), Claudia Borlee (Jr.-Green Bay/Preble), Lizzy Calawerts (So.-Green Bay/Notre Dame Academy), Lara Conrad (So.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake), Cassie Haak (Sr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View), Amber Hertz (Jr.-Baraboo), Katie Knutson (So.-Shorewood), Christina Locke (Sr.-Racine/Horlick), Beth Lutz (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial), Ellie Lutz (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial), Julie Meis (So.-Platteville), Laura Napier (So.-West St. Paul, MN/Henry Sibley), Kristin Seeger (Sr.-Germantown/Wisconsin Lutheran), and last year’s top runner Molly Warner (Jr.-Mosinee). The upperclassmen ranks are also joined by Natalie Hejny (Jr.-Maplewood, MN/North St. Paul).

There are 19 underclassmen on the team. The freshmen comprise of Caitlin Anderson (Chaska, MN), Jamie Arentz (Cashtown), Julia Gieschen (Eagle River/Northland Pines), Hannah Humbach (Madison/Abundant Life Christian), Lauren Novak (New Berlin/West), Kelly Palmer (Chanhassen, MN), Elly Prunty (Antigo), and Jenna Smith (Robbinsdale, MN/Cooper).

The non-mentioned sophomores joining the team are Beth Fugina (Andover, MN), Megan Gock (Franklin), Lisa Nagel (Sun Prairie), and Mary Palmer (Anoka, MN).

Last year the team had an outstanding showing that included a spot at nationals. The Blugolds took fourth in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships and at the Division III Regionals. They then finished 23rd at nationals. Besides nationals, the team never finished below fourth in any race.
