MEN AND WOMEN COMPETE AT CROSS COUNTRY REGIONAL

COLFAX - Both the UW-Eau Claire men's and women's cross country teams participated in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional here today at the Whitetail Golf Course.

Neither team qualified for national competition as the men's team finished in 12th place while the women finished in eighth place.

Leading the way for the men was Adam Condit (Jr.-La Crosse/Central) who finished in 40th place individually in a time of 25:53. Matt Goertz (Sr.-Manitowoc/Lincoln) took second on the Blugold roster and 50th overall with a time of 26:09.

The women were led by Melissa Wright (Sr.-Appleton/Kimberly) who took 31st overall with a time of 23:15. Following Wright was Korah Petrasko (Fr.-Appleton/East) who finished 53rd overall in a time of 23:38.

With neither team advancing to national competition the 2003 Eau Claire cross country season officially is over.

Men Individuals: 1) 40-Adam Condit (25:53), 2) 50-Matt Goertz (26:09), 3) 88-Jeff Burkart (27:01), 4) 94-Jake Ebner (27:08), 5) 96-Micah Hernandez (27:09), 6) 106-Ted Lillie (27:24), 7) 133-Ben Schmiege (28:01).

Women Individuals: 1) 31-Melissa Wright (23:15), 2) 53-Korah Petrasko (23:38), 3) 56-Sarah Kasabian (23:41), 4) 63-Rachel Anderson (23:47), 5) 64-Jeanine Twomey (23:47), 6) 78-Nikki Johnson (24:07), 7) 137-Heather Lipinski (25:33).
