WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY WINS MIDWEST
CHALLENGE
COLFAX – The UW-Eau Claire women’s cross country team
took first place in the 3k run en route to winning the
Midwest Long and Short Course Challenge here today at
the White Tail Golf Course.
Eau Claire won the 3k run by one point over Macalester
while St. Thomas finished in third. Sarah Kasabian
(Sr.-East Peoria, IL) took first for the Blugolds
and second overall with a time of 11:04.2. Melissa
Wright (Sr.-Appleton/Kimberly) finished
less than one second back of Kasabian en route to a
third place finish. Jeanine Twomey
(So.-Blaine, MN/Spring Lake Park) took third
for the Blugolds and 14th overall with a time of 11:28.0.
Eau Claire took fifth in the 6k portion of the Midwest
Challenge while Luther took first place. St. Benedict
took second while St. Olaf rounded out the top three.
Jenny Warmke (So.-Black River Falls)
finished first on the Blugolds and ninth overall with
a time of 23:19.9. Heather Lipinski
(Jr.-Thorp) and Korah Petrasko
(Fr.-Appleton/East) took second and third for
the Blugolds with times of 23:57.8 and 24:03.1 respectively.
Eau Claire will be in action next Saturday in Stevens
Point.
