WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY CHALLENGES D-II SCHOOLS
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team participated in the Division II portion of the Roy Griak Cross Invitational and placed 12th out of 23 teams here today at the Les Bolstad Golf Course.
Northern Michigan and South Dakota took the first two spots in the invitational while WIAC member Stevens Point and La Crosse placed third and fourth. Had the Blugolds races in the Division III portion of the invite they would have finished in fourth place.
Melissa Wright (Sr.-Appleton/Kimberly) took first on the Blugold roster with a time of 19:21, placing her 25th overall. Jenny Warmke (So.-Black River Falls) finished second for the Blugolds and 38th overall with a time of 19:33.
Korah Petrasko (Fr.-Appleton/East) took third for the Blugolds with a time of 19:40. Jeanine Twomey (So.-Blaine, MN/Spring Lake Park) and Nikki Johnson (Sr.-St. Cloud, MN/Cathedral) also earned points for the Blugolds.
Eau Claire will next be in action this Friday when they will host the Blugold Open.
