ARCISZEWSKI, BURNS NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-WIAC

MADISON – UW-Eau Claire women’s basketball guard Heidi Arciszewski (So.-Thorp) and forward Michelle Burns (Jr.-Eau Claire/North) have both been named to the All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) first team, it was announced today by conference sports information director Matt Stanek.

Arciszewski led the Blugolds averaging 12.6 points per game shooting a team-best 83.1 percent from the free throw line while averaging 31.4 points per game. Arciszewski netted the second-most made free throws in a game by any player in the WIAC this season with 11 at Trinity (TX) on December 29 and had a game where she made eight-of-eight attempts from the charity stripe. Arciszewski ranks third among WIAC leaders in free throw percentage (.831) and sixth in scoring and minutes played.

Burns, who was also named to the five-person All-WIAC Defensive Team, led the Blugolds in rebounding (7.5 per game), field goal percentage (.451), offensive rebounds (64) and blocked shots (10). Burns led all WIAC players with 12 made field goals in a single game and also scored the second-most points in a game this season with 29 against UW-Whitewater January 3. Among WIAC leaders Burns ranks third in defensive and total rebounding, sixth in offensive rebounding, seventh in field goal percentage, eighth in scoring (12.3 per game) and minutes played (31.3 per game) and 14th in free throw percentage. Burns recorded three double-double games in which she reached double-digit totals in scoring and rebounding.
